Senator Rezin proposes income tax checkoff to pay for Obama library

State lawmakers seem to agree they want an Obama library in Illinois but are arguing over how to pay for it. State Senator Sue Rezin thinks the best plan is to let you donate part of your income tax return to help pay for the library.

Democrat Mike Madigan has proposed using $100 million in taxpayer money to pay for the library which Rezin says isn’t a good idea considering it would take money away from other services.

Rezin and other Republicans don’t think taxpayer money has ever been used for libraries of other living presidents.
