Operation Prom-ise to be shown Wednesday at LPHS

Posted by wlpo on April 27, 2014

The short film Operation Prom-ise doesn’t have gratuitous nudity or violence but it still might be uncomfortable to watch with your teenager. It stars local high school students and offers a realistic and graphic portrayal of a drinking related crash during which someone is killed.

Deb Nelson is the principal at LP High School. She says kids need to be reminded to make smart choices.

You will likely recognize many of the film’s performers. The cast includes La Salle County Coroner Jody Bernard and States Attorney Brian Towne along with local police officers and emergency responders. Even the tow truck driver is actually a tow truck driver.

The film will be shown at 6:30pm Wednesday in LP’s auditorium. It’s free to watch. Copies of the video will be on sale. Nelson recommends the film for junior and high school students but says it maybe too much for younger children.

Learn more about it by listening to an interview that’s up on the WLPO AM and FM news page.
