L-P hoping youthful optimism means football success

“A perfect fit”, that’s what 28-year old James Bragg calls his decision to become head football coach at L-P.
The L-P School Board approved Bragg as the coach and new physical education teacher during a special meeting Wednesday night. This is Bragg’s first head coaching job, he’s been an assistant coach at PORTA High School in Petersburg since 2008. Bragg says he is a fiery and passionate football coach and hopes to put L-P football back on the map, though he cautions it won’t happen overnight.
L-P Athletics and Activities Director D’Wayne Bates says Bragg was picked from around 30 applicants. The other two finalists were both from the suburbs.
Bates thinks Bragg can be a relationship builder with players which to him is just as important as “x’s and o’s”.
