Names Released In Fatal Earlville Fire

A fatal fire in Earlville isn’t being investigated as suspicious.

The DeKalb County Coroner says 53-year old Matthew Jones of Earlville and 49-year old Dawn Williams of Ripon, Wisconsin were killed in a fire at Jones’ home Sunday morning on Hyde Road near the La Salle and DeKalb County line.  Dawn Williams’ brother Eric survived the fire and was treated and released at Mendota Community Hospital with minor burns.

Deputies say Eric Williams woke up Sunday morning and called 911 after noticing the fire.  He was able to get out and told firefighters that his sister and Matthew Jones were still inside.

The State Fire Marshall’s Office is investigating what started the fire but there’s no foul play suspected.
