New Winter Weather Advisory Issued For Expected Snow

Another Saturday snowstorm is on tap for the Illinois Valley.

After a dusting overnight Friday, snow will be back and be heavy at times Saturday afternoon and evening.  The Illinois Valley is expected to get anywhere from 4 to 6 inches by time the snow wraps up Sunday morning.

A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect from 3 Saturday afternoon thru 9 Sunday morning.

State Hands Out Thousands Of Dollars Of Fire Safety Grants

When you call for the fire department, you want them to show up well-equipped.  A group of area fire departments are getting state grants to improve their equipment.

The state is giving out over 4 million dollars worth of fire safety grants to nearly 200 Illinois fire departments.  In La Salle County, the La Salle Fire Department is getting a 25 thousand dollar grant and Tonica has been picked for a 12 thousand dollar grant.

In Putnam County, Magnolia’s fire department is getting a seven thousand dollar grant.  Bureau, Walnut and Wyanet Fire Departments are all getting 25 thousand dollar grants.
