Flood Probability Rises For The Illinois Valley

Posted by wlpo on February 17, 2014

Flooding in the Illinois Valley appears to be not a question of if but when.

The National Weather Service has put out a new flood outlook and they believe rivers will start rising due to snow melt during the mid to latter half of next week.  Right now there is anywhere from 8 to 18 inches of snow on the ground which is equal to 1 to 4 inches of water.

How severe the flooding is depends on if there is heavy rain during the snow melt.  There is a chance of thunderstorms this Thursday.
