Streator Leads Way With Sending Kids To Detention Home

For the seventh year in a row, Streator sent the most children to the La Salle County Detention Home.

According to the detention home’s year report, 32 children from Streator spent time at the home last year.  La Salle had the next highest number of visitors with 27.  Ottawa was next with 21 followed by Peru with 16, Mendota 15, Oglesby 13 and Marseilles 12.

Overall, the La Salle County Detention Home took in 14 less juveniles in 2013 than the year before.  There were 129 boys and 39 girls.  The average age of a child at the detention home was 15.

Each child at the detention home cost taxpayers 124 dollars per day.
