Driving discouraged due to weather

Posted by wlpo on January 26, 2014

Stay home- that’s the advice from the Illinois State Police and IDOT.  Blowing snow has caused whiteout conditions especially on rural roads.   Route 251 between Peru and Mendota was closed Sunday night.  The Putnam County Sheriff’s Department has also said to stay off the roads.

Most schools have canceled classes and activities for Monday.  Illinois Valley Waste Services, a garbage hauler for many communities, will not be picking up garbage Monday.  For a list of closings and cancellations click on the red banner.
