Posted by wlpo on November 2, 2013

DETROIT (AP) – An Illinois man has been sentenced to 13 months in federal prison for making online bomb threats against a trucking company on the day of the Boston Marathon bombing.

Rodney Termini of Oglesby was prosecuted in federal court in Detroit because the threats were received by Con-Way Freight employees in Michigan. Termini pleaded guilty to making a threat last April 15th, the day of the Boston bombing.

Termini was a contract employee for Con-Way. The company evacuated a facility in La Salle and diverted several trucks. No bomb was found.

Termini was sentenced Thursday. He must pay $46,000 to Con-Way for the false alarm.

The government says Termini has a history of making threats and served five months in prison in 1999.
