Governor visits Peru to talk about road money

Posted by wlpo on October 5, 2013

With an airplane and local politicians behind him, Governor Pat Quinn announced that cities, counties and townships would be receiving extra money for road work.  The announcement Saturday came nearly four years cities, counties and township started receiving the money in 2010.  The money is from the Illinois Jobs Now program.

How much your town or county receives depends on its population and the amount of roads.  Peru is receiving nearly $43,000 while a smaller town like Ladd is receiving almost 5$,700.

Peru Mayor Scott Harl says they’ve been including the extra money in their Motor Fuel Tax projects.  Motor Fuel Tax is another way towns get road money from the state.
