Taste Of Utica Returns

Everything from wine to wrestling will be available for your entertainment in Utica.

The “Taste of Utica” returns Saturday with beer, wine and food in the downtown.  There are also sidewalk sales, a bags tournament, kid’s games, bingo, silent auctions, and Dreamwave Wrestling.

Local favorite Road Angel will close out “Taste of Utica” with a concert starting at 8.

No Prison In Peru Porn Arrest

A Peru man arrested for allegedly downloading and trading child pornography will avoid prison.

Ronald Mistarz was sentenced instead to 90 days in jail after pleading guilty this week to possession of child pornography.  Having no criminal history helped Mistarz avoid prison.  He will have to register as a sex offender.

Mistarz was arrested in mid-December by Peru Police.  The investigation also included help from the U.S. Secret Service.

Zombies Invading Marseilles

If you’re caught up in the zombie craze, head to Marseilles today.

The city’s tourism and parks committee is putting together a day long event called “Zombies Attack Marseilles”.  Between 2 until 9 today, there will be a zombie dance, a zombie inflatable for kids, worm-eating contest, zombie costume contest, and a scavenger hunt where you’re supposed to avoid becoming infected by zombies on the course.

The zombie activities are happening at Knudson Park.

Extreme Heat Coming To The Illinois Valley

It looks like summer will go out with a bang.

A late season heat wave is expected to hit the Illinois Valley starting Monday.  The high temperature on Monday is expected to be in the low to mid-90s while it could be even warmer on Tuesday.

Factor in the humidity and it’ll feel hotter than 100 Monday and Tuesday.
