Killed police dog to be remembered with an open house

A police dog that died in the line of duty is being remembered in Peru.  A celebration of service open house is being held Thursday for Peru Police K9 Kali.

Kali was with her handler, Officer Art Smith on their way to the Verizon store that had just been robbed Saturday when their squad car crashed with another car.

Smith was left with minor injuries but Kali was thrown from the squad and soon after died from her injuries.

If you would like to attend the celebration of service open house it will be from 5-7pm Thursday in the Peru Municipal Building Community Room.
