More than 20 local families are enjoying a new pet. Illinois Valley Animal Rescue’s “Adopt-a-Thon” sent 17 dogs and 10 cats home with new owners Saturday and Sunday.

Chris Ellberg with IVAR was happy with the results especially since it was raining Saturday. She says a few more adoptions are in the works.

During the “Adopt-a-Thon” you can take home a pet at a reduced cost.
