At Matthiessen Park, the only areas remaining closed are the lower dells.

Torch sparks minor fire in Oglesby

Posted by wlpo on June 21, 2013

An open flame and sawdust don’t mix well.  Firefighters were at the former Dahlgren’s building in Oglesby late Friday morning after a fire started smoldering in the building’s dust collector.

Fire Chief Ron Popurella says someone was using a torch to remove the dust collection system and must have started the sawdust in it on fire.

They were able to put it out without damaging the building.
