Armed police officers could be coming to IVCC

You’ll often find a police officer on duty at high schools and soon you could find one at Illinois Valley Community College. College leaders are talking with the Oglesby Police Department and La Salle County Sheriff’s office about having an officer patrolling campus.
The IVCC Board of Trustees Tuesday night gave President Jerry Corcoran the go-ahead to get proposals. They would like to have an armed officer on campus for at least 20 hours a week. Corcoran says other community colleges are doing it.
The college already has a contract with a private security company.
