Prom safety videos to be show Monday at LPHS

           Prom season has arrived.  Before students at LP High School will be celebrating next Saturday they can watch a video designed to encourage them to party safely.

          Teens and their parents can watch the first two “Operation Prom-ise” movies tomorrow night at LP’s auditorium.  It’s open to students from all high schools and is free.  The program will start at 7pm.

Big trucks to roll into Ladd next weekend

If you’re a fan of big trucks you’ll find all kinds next Saturday in Ladd.  Convoy Against Cancer, a fundraiser for the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life, will feature all makes and models of semi trucks, fire trucks, pickups and more.

The truck show will be from 10am to 3pm Saturday on Route 89 in Ladd.  If you would like information for bringing your truck email bigtruckshow@hotmail.com.

CASA training new volutneers

Hundreds of children are caught up in court cases in La Salle County.  Be a voice for them by becoming a court appointed advocate.

La Salle County CASA will be training new volunteers starting Thursday.   You’ll train for 30 hours.  If interested, contact the CASA office in Ottawa.

Illinois River flooding continues to affect Peru water front

           A portion of a Water Street in Peru remains underwater as the Illinois River slowly recedes.  The River near La Salle and Peru was still seven feet over flood stage Sunday morning. It’s forecast to remain above flood stage for at least another week.

          And while the water has been off the road for days, Route 351 at the Shippingsport bridge remains closed because of the damage caused by flood waters.
