State Senator wants pension reform sooner than later

Posted by wlpo on February 24, 2013

While you were watching the Oscars, local republicans were talking about pensions, elections and the future.  The La Salle County Republican Central Committee held their annual Lincoln Day Dinner Sunday night.

State Senator Sue Rezin was there.  She thinks there will be pension reform; she just hopes they can have it approved before May 31, the final day of the spring session.

Rezin says there are several bills that are being considered.  Some of them call for the shifting of pension responsibility from the state to the local school districts.  She thinks that would be bad for some of the schools in her district which rely heavily on state money.

The state senate returns to work this week.
