Community improvement effort earns a La Salle woman an award

Posted by wlpo on February 21, 2013

A couple of years ago people in La Salle grouped off to tackle projects they that would make the town better.  The Illinois Institute of Rural Affairs at Western Illinois University calls it MAPPING.  And they’re honoring Francie Skoflanc for her work in La Salle.

Skoflanc spear-headed the creation of the French canal markets once a month outside of La Salle State Bank.  It has earned her the 2013 Community Champion Vision to Action award.

She was nominated by La Salle Economic Development Director Don Alesky and La Salle Public Library Director Laura Frizol and will receive the award during a dinner in March.
