Man on parole for punching a police officer indicted for drug charge

          A man on parole could be returning to prison.  A grand jury this week indicted Lorenzo Craig of La Salle for unlawful possession of cannabis with intent to deliver.  Craig was previously in prison for punching a police officer in the jaw.  He was arrested in November on an Illinois Department of Corrections warrant. 

          He’s being held in the La Salle County Jail with his bond set at $1 million.

Utica Man Still Critical After Route 6 Crash

Two days after a serious crash involving a car and a semi the man in the car remains in critical condition.

Douglas Porter of Utica is being treated at St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.  He was flown there from the scene of the crash Tuesday afternoon near Senica’s Oak Ridge Golf Course.  Police say Porter hit the semi head-on.

Bruce North of Streator, the truck driver, wasn’t hurt.  Charges are pending against Porter.

Illinois Foreclosure Rate Skyrockets

CHICAGO (AP) – Illinois home foreclosure activity rose 32.6 percent in 2012 compared to the previous year. But it was almost 10 percent lower than in 2010.

A report shows Illinois with 136,603 foreclosure filings last year. That represents a rate of one in every 39 housing units. It’s the fifth-highest rate in the nation.

Nationally, last year’s foreclosure activity fell almost 3 percent from 2011. That was 36 percent lower than in 2010.
