The company that picks up garbage in Spring Valley and La Salle will soon be the company picking up garbage in Peru. Illinois Valley Waste Services is getting the five-year contract with Peru after the city council Monday night chose their bid over their current waste hauler and two other companies.
Alderman Dave Potthoff says the garbage pickup will remain the same along with the cost to you. The cost to the city will decrease by more than one dollar and fifty cents per household for the first year of the contract. The rate could increase based on the consumer price index.
Potthoff says they’re still working out details of yard waste pickup.
