Eight New Members For La Salle County Board

Posted by wlpo on December 4, 2012

Judge H. Chris Ryan did the honors of swearing in the newest 29 members of the La Salle County Board last evening.

For the first time in a long time, Republicans have the numbers with 15 members to 14 for Democrats.  Democrats still have the chairman with Jerry Hicks.   Republicans have taken advantage of election wins though by having four of seven members on the Committee on Appointments.

There are eight new county board members including an Ottawa firefighter Brian Dose and local band director Larry Butkus of Peru.

Suicidal Man In Princeton Turns Himself In

Posted by wlpo on December 4, 2012

A man who caused a day long search by police and schools to be put on lockdown in Princeton turned himself in without incident.

Geno Storm showed up at the Bureau County Jail Monday evening and was arrested for domestic battery with more charges pending.  Several officers searched for Storm all afternoon believing he was suicidal and carrying a shotgun.  As the search was going on, Princeton schools were put on lockdown.

Officers say they found his car at Elm Lawn Cemetery but he was dropped off at City County Park.  That’s where the search was focused in the afternoon.
