Car Crash Breaks Telephone Pole In La Salle

A crash involving a car and utility pole sent a person to the hospital and closed Route 6 on the east side of La Salle.  The accident happened just before 3pm Friday west of the Little Vermilion River bridge.

At least one person was taken to Illinois Valley Community Hospital.  IDOT was called to help with traffic while Ameren crews had to repair the lines because the pole apparently broke.

Police haven’t said yet who was driving or what caused the crash.

Sullivans Foods Eyeing Spring Valley Site

Sullivan’s Foods has it eyes set on opening a store in Spring Valley.

According to the NewsTribune, Scott Sullivan of Sullivan’s Foods told Spring Valley’s finance committee that he’s ready to open a grocery store on the old Bassick Company site on Route 6.  Sullivan says the store would be around six thousand square feet, employ 50 to 60 people and would have room for three other businesses.  He says if everything goes right, the store could open by this time next year.

Sullivan says he’s aware of environmental concerns at the old Bassicks.  He says they’ve already developed on similar sites in Mendota and Dwight.

Man Admits To Burglaries At Ottawa Pizza Joints

A serial burglar in Ottawa is headed to prison.

Corey Delahaba pled guilty Wednesday to counts of residential burglary and burglary.  As part of pleading guilty, he was sentenced to a decade in prison.

Ottawa Police say Delahaba admits to burglarizing Alfano’s Pizza, Bianchi’s Pizza North, Jiffy Lube once and R. Grotto Restaurant twice.  He also fessed up to trying to burglarize the Brite spot, HiWay Restaurant and Callaway’s Tap.

Snow Shows Up In Forecast

Are you ready for some crazy weather in the Illinois Valley?

According to the latest National Weather Service Forecast, high temperatures the next three days should be between 60 to 70 degrees.  Come Monday though, the high will only be in the mid-30s.  And yes there is a chance of snow Monday afternoon and evening.

You can also expect breezy conditions for Veteran’s Day weekend.
