President Obama, Pippen play Election Day basketball in Chicago

Posted by wlpo on November 6, 2012

CHICAGO (AP) ā€” President Barack Obama spent the afternoon of Election Day playing basketball in his Chicago hometown.

Former Illinois treasurer Alexi Giannoulias was on the court on Chicago’s West Side. He says players on the court included former Chicago Bulls star Scottie Pippen and Education Secretary Arne Duncan. Giannoulias says two five-player teams played four 12-minute quarters. He says referees were brought in to call fouls.

Obama headed for the basketball court after visiting a campaign office near his South Side Chicago home earlier today.

Obama spent the day in his hometown, making his last appeals to voters during a round of satellite interviews with TV stations in swing states rather than a final flurry of campaign rallies.
