Power Up For Grabs With La Salle County Board

Posted by wlpo on November 6, 2012

Will there be a power shift on the La Salle County Board?

Right now, democrats have 17 board members compared to a dozen for republicans.  What’s known already is that nine democrats are running unopposed and eight republicans have already won seats.  Two republicans face two independents and then the other nine races have the traditional democrat versus republican race.

Incumbent board members facing challenges today are: Democrat Bob Greenwalt against Republican Al Erbrederis; Republican Gary Small against Independent Tom McMurtry; Democrat Joe Panzica Jr. against Republican Tina Busch; Democrat Lou Anne Caretto against Republican Susan Thornton; Republican Randy Freeman versus Democrat Gerry Senko; Democrat Herman “Bones” Bruns against Republican Mike Sheridan; and Democrat Don Jordan against Republican Walter Roach Jr.

Regardless of how the district races shake out, democrats will keep control of the chairman seat.  Jerry Hicks is running unopposed for a second term as La Salle County Board chairman.
