Citizens First National Bank seized by FDIC

Posted by wlpo on November 3, 2012

If you had been banking with Citizens First National Bank you aren’t anymore.  The bank based in Princeton was seized by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation last night.

Your money is now with Heartland Bank and Trust of Bloomington.  The 21 branches of Citizens are reopening this morning under the new ownership.  Your accounts and deposits have automatically been moved to Heartland Bank and Trust.

The FDIC says you don’t need to do anything to keep your money protected by the FDIC.  Through the weekend you’ll be able to write checks and continue using ATMS and debit cards.  If you have a loan, make your payments as usual.

If you were a customer of Citizens more information about the seizure is available through the FDIC.
