Woman arrested for drunken driving at a bank

Nobody was hurt after police say a woman drove up the curb and got her car stuck at a bank in Oglesby.  Police were called to Eureka Savings Bank Friday morning where they say they found Dixie Jacks’ car stuck.

Jacks, of Oglesby, was arrested for DUI and was sent home with a notice to appear.

Forecast looking good for Petfest 2012 re-do

Stormy weather postponed Petfest 2012 from last Sunday until this Sunday.  The event at Baker Lake in Peru is one of the larger fundraisers for Illinois Valley Animal Rescue.

Petfest 2012 will feature games for your kids and a micro chipping clinic for your dog.  There will also be a Paw-Rade around the lake, a blessing of the pets, and memorial balloon launch.  Donate $25 for the walk and receive a free T-shirt.

Local vets and businesses that cater to pets will also have booths set up.   Activities begin at 11am.  The walk around the lake is at 1pm and the winners of the pet photo contest will be announced at 2:15pm.

Sales of existing homes improves in La Salle County

Local housing numbers are mixed.

According to the Illinois Association of REALTORS, 86 homes were sold last month in La Salle County, up from 68 sales last September.  In Bureau County home sales are down from 30 last September to 28 this September.

Two homes went off the market last month in Putnam County compared to just one last year.

TRIDENT arrests a man in La Salle

A small amount of heroin is what police say they found after searching an apartment in La Salle.  Members of TRIDENT went through Travis Cowan’s place on Marquette Street Thursday.

Cowan allegedly had less than a gram of heroin, 30 grams of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.  He was arrested for unlawful possession of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of cannabis.

Cowan was taken to the La Salle County Jail.
