Oglesby man arrested after police called to his home

When the police come knocking, answer the door.  A man in Oglesby was taken to the county jail after he allegedly gave alcohol to a 13 year old and had weapon even though he’s a felon.

Patrick Thomas of Oglesby was arrested early Saturday morning after the police were called about a child that wouldn’t return home.  Thomas was arrested for unlawful use of a weapon by a felon, obstructing a peace officer, and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

Matthew Martin of Oglesby was also there.  He was arrested for obstructing police and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.  He was given a notice to appear.

Tours of LPHS being offered during homecoming

LP High School is home to many paintings and other art works you maybe missed while you were busy running from your locker to class.  You can take a tour of the school during Homecoming 2012.

Volunteers with the LP Foundation for Educational Enrichment will be giving one-hour tours on Saturday, September 22 beginning at 12pm, 1pm, and 2pm.

The foundation raises money for classroom items and projects not included in the school’s budget.

9-11 memorial planned in Streator

Tuesday will be the 11th anniversary of the September 11 Terrorist Attacks.  If you would like to reflect on the event with others, a 9-11 memorial program is being held at 6pm Sunday in Streator City Park.

IDOC visit leaves Mendota man arrested

A new drug charge for a man already on parole for drug convictions in La Salle County.  Adam Bennett of Mendota was arrested Thursday after officers from the Mendota Police and the Illinois Department of Corrections went to his home.

Bennett was arrested for possession of a controlled substance and on a failure to appear warrant for forgery.  He was taken to the La Salle County Jail.

A roommate, Martin Haszler, was arrested for possession of cannabis and drug paraphernalia and was given a notice to appear.

Parade and blues performance part of Homestead Festival events

More pork and music in Princeton today as the Homestead Festival continues Saturday.  Events include tours of the Lovejoy Homestead and a photography exhibit at the Prairie Arts Center.

You can order a pork sandwich cooked by the Bureau County Pork Producers at Soldiers and Sailor’s Park and watch the parade along Main Street.  The parade starts at 1:30pm.

Blues musician Maurice John Vaughn will be performing at Alexander Park from 4:30PM-6:30PM.  A beer garden will be open at Darius Miller Park.
