Seniors and people with disabilities who need a helping hand to pay for their heating bills can start applying for assistance.

The state’s Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program, or LIHEAP starts tomorrow.  If you want state assistance, you must meet certain income requirements.  Starting in October, families with children five and under can ask for state assistance while everyone can put in requests November 1st.  The energy funds go until they run out.

The Tri-County Opportunities Council in Dixon is the local LIHEAP office.
