Ongoing Talks About Oglesby Ambulance Service

Posted by wlpo on August 12, 2012

Negotiations are apparently happening to change a proposed plan that cuts hours of some Oglesby ambulance workers.

Public Safety Commissioner Tom Porter posted on Facebook that Finance Commissioner Paul Danekas reached out to him about the proposed changes to the ambulance department.  Porter calls the discussions productive and asks for patience to work towards an agreement that all sides can endorse.

Last week the Oglesby City Council put on file a plan that would cut back the pay and hours of Ambulance Director Cathie Edens and reduce hours for around a half dozen ambulance workers so that they wouldn’t be eligible any more for a pension.

Porter and Streets Commissioner Dennis Yborra voted against the proposed changes.
