Affordable housing charity bike trip spends the night in Peru

Home construction is hard work, so is riding your bicycle 100 miles in a day. That’s what volunteers with the group Bike and Build have been doing as they bike from Providence, Rhode Island to Seattle, Washington. Their journey took them to St. Joseph’s Hall in Peru Wednesday.
Neil Curran of Redding, California is one of 31 people making the trip. He says they’re trying to create and promote affordable housing. Many of their projects are with Habitat for Humanity. Before spending the night in Peru they were working on two homes in Bloomington. He says they’ve worked on five houses since leaving Rhode Island on June 15.
Curran says the hardest part of the ride is spending up to six hours on your bike a day. They left Peru early Thursday on a 100 mile ride to Clinton, Iowa. They’re scheduled to reach Seattle on August 21.
