Princeton Apartment Building Burns

Posted by wlpo on July 6, 2012

How does fighting a fire in these temperatures sound? Several firefighters in Bureau County fought an apartment blaze in 90-degree heat.

The initial call came in just before six Friday evening of a large fire on West Longhaven Street in the northwest side of Princeton.  Ladder trucks from Princeton and Spring Valley were among several trucks fighting the fire that was finally under control in about two hours.  It took firefighters around an hour to gain access inside the second floor of the apartment building.

There are no reports of any injuries.  The Red Cross is involved in helping people displaced.

So far there isn’t a reason given for why the fire started.  The State Fire Marshal’s Office is looking into it.

Firefighters began leaving the fire around 9 o’clock, or three hours after the fire started.
