More On 34 Returns

Are you a bargain hunter?  How does a 100 mile long yard sale sound?

The annual More on 34 sales are back today and tomorrow.  The sales run from Galesburg to Yorkville.  Towns in the listening area taking part include: Sheffield; Wyanet; Princeton; LaMoille; Mendota; Earlville; Somonauk; and Sandwich.

Besides people having sales, many businesses are also having special sales this weekend.  Most sales begin at 8 and end at 5.

Congressman Kinzinger scheduled to appear on CNN

Your congressmen will be on CNN Friday morning.  Republican Adam Kinzinger is going to be on with Soledad O’Brien at 7:10am talking about the latest news on the F-22 Raptor.  There have been concerns over pilots not having enough oxygen when flying the craft.   Kinzinger will be talking about what he thinks needs to be done next.

Pickleball courts ready in Peru

You’ve got a new reason to get active this summer- the pickleball courts are ready in Peru.  It’s like tennis but instead of using a racket you use a paddle and a different ball.

Pickleball and pickleball clinics will be offered at the 28th Street Park which you’ll find just off of Marquette Road in Peru.  Paddles and balls will be available if you email Jim Grabowski.  Information on how to reach him is available at the web site Positive in Peru.

Annual cruise night returns to downtown Ottawa Friday

The weather will be perfect for strolling downtown Ottawa Friday night.  You’ll see a large variety of antique and custom cars during the 14th Annual Cruise Night.

Cars and even trucks will be lined up along LaSalle Street. The show is from 6-10pm.  It’s hosted by The La Salle County Cruisers and the City of Ottawa.  It’s $5 to enter a car.  The first 300 to register receive a dash plaque.

Brush fire reported along Dee Bennett Road

When the grass in brown, don’t light a burn pile.  It took three fire departments two hours and 12,000 gallons of water to put out a brush fire along Dee Bennett Road Thursday.

Utica Assistant Fire Chief Ed Rogers says a man was burning off some dry grass on his property and it spread to a large pile of firewood.  Rogers says the pile was probably the size of a building.

Utica had help from Oglesby and Naplate fire departments.   He says until we get some rain hold off on burning.

Hours Away From La Salle County Relay For Life

They’ll be up all night at Streator City Park to raise money for the American Cancer Society.  The La Salle County Relay for Life gets underway at 6pm tomorrow.

51 teams and 448 people have signed up to walk.  Nearly 130 thousand dollars has been raised.

Missing Father And Son From Princeton Found After “Misunderstanding”

According to a Princeton dispatcher, Brock Cheshier and his son Dalton have been found safe and sound after being reported missing by police.

Rock Falls Police considered the father and son missing after the ex-wife told them Brock made troubling remarks on the phone.  Police searched Brock Cheshier’s home in Princeton last night and Starved Rock State Park where they were supposed to be headed to camp and fish but found no trace of them.

However it looks like the parents just had a misunderstanding.
