CHICAGO (AP) – Chicago’s 25,500 public school teachers are considering authorizing what could be their first strike in a

As the voting continued Friday, teachers said they were confident enough of them would vote to authorize union leaders call a strike if they feel it’s necessary. Teachers are angry about proposals they say would dramatically increase their workday but only minimally increase their pay.

They are looking for a pay increase of over 20 percent while board members have talked about 2 percent.

One man was injured another rescued in an early morning apartment fire in Peru.
