Standing at an intersection with a bucket in your hand is a quick and easy way to raise money. Groups raising money in La Salle will be able to use either 11th and Bucklin Streets or 11th and Creve Coeur for tag days.
No longer will they be allowed to wander to other intersections. The La Salle City Council agreed Tuesday night to firm up the rules after noticing that some groups had been staking out other intersections. Groups will still be allowed to stand outside of local businesses if the owners give them permission.

A revamped City of Peru website is in the works. City Clerk Dave Bartley says he wants the new website to be resident friendly especially for people who aren’t web savvy.
The city already has a web site complete with drop down menus and links to the different offices, minutes and agendas. You can also look up any city ordinance, but Bartley says it needs to be made easier.
The city council Monday night decided to stick with their web host Connecting Point Computers. Bartley says it was the least expensive of three bids and his staff is familiar with the software.

Most people would agree temporary pain of burns on the feet is worth possibly saving a child’s life.
A man in Ottawa suffered burns to his feet while getting three kids out of a burning home this morning. The fire call came in just after 5 o’clock on 8th Avenue at the home of Holly Andreoni. She was at work but her boyfriend and three kids were in the home when the fire started. The kids are okay but the boyfriend did go to the hospital for his burns.
Ottawa Fire Chief Jeff Newbury says the state fire marshal’s office is investigating the cause even though he’s not thinking its anything suspicious.
The family plans to stay with family.

CHICAGO (AP) – Two of Rod Blagojevich’s former attorneys say the former Illinois governor is washing pots and pans in prison.
Sam Adam Sr. and Sam Adam Jr. visited Blagojevich Sunday at a federal prison in Littleton, Colo. The attorneys say Blagojevich has three cellmates. New inmates are assigned to kitchen duty for 90 days and Blagojevich has been washing dishes six days a week.
Blagojevich told the attorneys the hardest thing is missing his wife and two daughters. The attorneys say Blagojevich told them his family visited and he was upset rules only allowed his younger daughter to sit on his lap and his teenage daughter to give him a hug.
