Signs at road constructions let you know it was made possible by Peru

Resurfacing has begun in Peru where a list of streets is to be worked on this construction season.  And there will be no mistaking what’s behind the work- The City of Peru.

Signs saying that the work was made possible by the City of Peru have been posted at some of the work sites.  They are similar to ones that were posted for state road work paid for the American Reinvestment Act.  They go on to say, “Building and maintaining our infrastructure, ordinance #4831.

Len Trovero Construction is doing the work for $1.9 million.  It’s being paid for with a loan that’s being paid back with sales tax money.

Flushing scheduled for Spring Valley

Low water pressure and rusty water is possible next week in Spring Valley.  Hydrant flushing will begin Sunday evening in the area west of Hall High School including Marquette Road.

Crews will be flushing from 10pm until 5am.  If your water looks rusty, let it run.

Woman arrested on heroin related charges

An investigation into a possible heroin dealer in Ottawa has a woman facing charges.  Jeffri Shields of Ottawa was arrested Friday on two counts of unlawful delivery of a controlled substance, heroin.

Police say a warrant was issued for Shields’ arrest after she sold heroin a number of times to somebody working under cover with TRIDENT.

Shields was being held in the La Salle County Jail with his bond set at $50,000.
