Cameras Shot Down In Local Courtrooms

Posted by wlpo on April 13, 2012

There won’t be cameras or recorders allowed in La Salle or Bureau County courtrooms anytime soon.

Chief Judge H. Chris Ryan says the consensus of judges in the 13th District which covers La Salle, Bureau and Grundy Counties is to not take part in the pilot program.  Back in January, the Illinois Supreme Court opened up the possibility of recording devices in Illinois courtrooms.

Opponents fear it can lead to people in the courtroom acting differently because of a camera or microphone.
