Facebook….a good stock option?

Posted by wlpo on April 8, 2012

The world-wide social network “Facebook” will likely sell several pieces of itself in a public stock offering in May. Would or should someone in the Ilinois Valley invest? Steve Witek of LPL Financial – heard Saturdays on AM 1220 WLPO – says the I. P. O. or initial public offering will likely be snatched up by big institutional or high net worth clients. If you’re interested in buying….you’ll have to get yours second hand when it begins trading on the NASDAQ. Is it a good investment? Witek says prior examples of this have had mixed results. Longterm, Google was a good investment…but “GROUP ON” started strong and now is trading at only $15 per share. Witek’s office is on First Street in LaSalle.

three calls in eight hours

Posted by wlpo on April 8, 2012

Hopefully, your Easter is quiet and pleasant. Unfortunately, the Seneca Fire Department was quite busy in a nine hour period Saturday. First call was to a fatal one car accident where it’s believes a 25-year old man from Seneca hit a field entrance on North 30th road about 3am Saturday. His car flew forty feet into a field and landed on the passenger door. The driver was dead. His name is being withheld by the County Coroner until next of kin are notified. At 7:30am, at Woodsmoke Ranch, north of Seneca, a propane or gas fuel tank exploded enveloping a park model trailer. That trailer, its deck and a small shed were destroyed. A second trailer next to it received significant damage and a third on the other side – moderate damage. Firemen were back at the station at 10:30 only to be called to an eastside residential area at 11am. A cut tree fell on some power lines causing them to spark Fire personnel stayed on the scene until the power could be shut off.
