State Shuts Down Area Gun Range
Posted by wlpo on March 16, 2012
Today was supposed to be opening day for the Buffalo Range Shooting Park near Naplate. That is until the Illinois Attorney General stepped in.
The range posted on its website that it was opening for the season today. Someone in the state saw it and the attorney general’s office was able to get a temporary restraining order to keep the range from opening.
The range is the one in the middle of a controversy where the state has closed a stretch of the I&M Canal towpath because of stray bullets coming from the range. In getting the restraining order, the state says the range hasn’t responded to safety demands.
A hearing on the restraining order is Monday March 26th.
