Presidential Candidates In Illinois

Posted by wlpo on March 16, 2012

ROSEMONT, Ill. (AP) – Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney is sounding a familiar theme in suburban Chicago: He should be the next president because he’s the only economic heavyweight in the race.

Romney reminded a crowded diner in Rosemont about his 25 years in the private sector, saying he has more experience than the other Republican candidates or President Barack Obama. Illinois is becoming increasingly important to Republicans this
primary; Newt Gingrich was in the state Thursday, and Rick Santorum scheduled a campaign stop in Illinois later today.
