Waiting Game Continues For Buffalo Rock Trail Closure

Posted by wlpo on March 4, 2012

It looks like the Buffalo Rock closure will hit a two-year anniversary.

Illinois Department of Natural Resources Director Marc Miller was in Ottawa over the weekend and says they’re still working towards a solution between lawyers and the attorney general’s office to reopen parts of Buffalo Rock State Park and the towpath between Naplate and Utica. Part of the park and I&M trail were closed in April 2010 after the DNR thought stray bullets from a nearby gun range posed a safety issue.

Miller says they’ve actually been dealing with this issue for several years and while he wants the trail back open, he’s not willing to risk someone getting shot.

Sorry, the comment form is closed at this time.
