Pelosi endorses Jackson Jr.

Posted by wlpo on March 4, 2012

Congressman Jesse Jackson Jr.’s opponent in the upcoming primary says voters are tired of outsiders coming into the district telling them how to vote. Former  congresswoman Debbie Halvorson was responding to House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi’s visit to Chicago Saturday to endorse Jackson. Pelosi, who’s from California, praised Jackson’s leadership in Congress and appealed to voters to ensure he keeps his seat. Halvorson says people “are just sick and tired” of politicians from outside the district weighing in. The campaign is shaping up as one of the toughest fights in Illinois’ March 20 primary. Pelosi made her endorsement announcement at the headquarters of the Rainbow PUSH Coalition, the civil rights organization run by Jackson’s father, the Rev. Jesse Jackson. Jackson has represented the 2nd Congressional District since 1995.
