Oglesby is ready for homeowners wanting to produce their own electricty

Renewable energy sources are growing in popularity so if one day someone in Oglesby would like to build a windmill or solar panel for their home, the city is prepared.

The city council Monday night approved standards outlining a fee structure and way of metering customer-owned generation.

Mayor Don Finley says the standards were necessary since they’re with the Illinois Municipal Energy Agency.  So far, nobody is generating electricity.

New professional group forming in Spring Valley

Thinking of opening a business in Spring Valley?  A newly formed professional group is hoping to make the town more business-friendly.

The Newstribune reports that a group of concerned business professionals and others want to improve the city’s business climate by working with city officials, business leaders, and professionals.  The group doesn’t have a name yet.

Economic director Debb Ladgenski says anyone who wants to learn more about the group, should give her a call.
