puppy mill protestors

Posted by wlpo on December 11, 2011

At least one hundred protestors had gathered by early Sunday afternoon on the East side of Peru Mall. According to organizer, Tracy Ross, the group is raising awareness of “puppy mills” – breeders who raise dogs in inhumane, and yet legal, conditions. A News Tribune investigation looked into “Furry Babies” – a pet store in the Mall and questioned if the store got some of the dogs it sells from a “puppy mill”. Ross told AM 1220 WLPO from the site of the protest, the article educated many regarding inhumane dog breeders. Ross said it is NOT the goal of the group to shut down the store, but in her words, the store wanted to get its dogs from humane breeders, that’s fine with her.
