Oglesby Raising Taxes

Posted by wlpo on December 5, 2011

It’ll cost a little more to live in Oglesby next year.

The city council passed a new tax rate last night that goes from $2.02 per $100 assessed valuation to $2.09.  If you had a 100 thousand dollar home,  your tax bill will go up around 60 bucks next year.

Overall, the city’s trying to collect over thirty thousand dollars more in property taxes.  The total property tax revenue would be 640 thousand dollars.

Finance Commissioner Paul Danekas says despite the extra tax money, next year’s budget will still have more expenses than revenues.
