Chicago Hoping To Avoid Snow Disaster Again

Posted by wlpo on October 29, 2011

CHICAGO (AP) – Crews working for the city of Chicago next week will begin work on Lake Shore Drive that will make it easier for cars to avoid getting stuck during a blizzard or other type emergency.

The workers will begin creating two turnaround points, a recommendation of a June report on the city’s emergency response to the February blizzard.

City officials say 525 vehicles were removed after they got stuck on the drive and then returned to their owners over two days. The drive was closed for 33 hours.
