SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (AP) – Enrollment for winter heating assistance from the state of Illinois begins Nov. 1.
The Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program is a state and federally funded initiative that pays heating bills for low-income families. Clients have a choice of programs to enroll in this year that can be explained when they apply.
A single person can qualify in the energy assistance program with a monthly income of up to $1,361. A family of four can earn up to $2,794. Benefits are paid directly to utility companies unless heating costs are included in rent.
