Peru mayor says rail project a win-win for the city

Posted by wlpo on October 25, 2011

A plan to improve the railroad from Peru to Ottawa and onward is a win-win according to Peru’s mayor.

The city has said they would give $50,000 from the electric fund to go towards to the TIGER III project. Scott Harl says it would add an extra rail and with the rail traffic they see, it would pay for itself.  The grant is through the U.S. Department of Transportation.

Harl thinks it would be used more by a sand sorting company that’s moving to town.
