Route 6 resurfacing completed

Posted by wlpo on October 24, 2011

Taking Route 6 through La Salle and Peru used to be a bumpy and slow going ride but work to resurface the road has been completed.

IDOT engineer Joe Spika says the project for the most part is done.  It started in June mainly after Peru Mayor Scott Harl contacted several state lawmakers and U.S. Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood.

Advanced Asphalt of Princeton was hired for the milling and resurfacing.  Many sidewalks were also updated to comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act.  The work was estimated to cost $3.4 million.  It was scheduled to be finished at the end of September.
