Posted by wlpo on September 11, 2011

A dawn fire south and east of Tonica is extinguished with help from Tonica and other area fire departments. Todd Anderson is Tonica’s Assistant Fire Chief. Anderson told AM 1220 WLPO news a manufacturing building owned by Illinois Valley Minerals caught fire about 6am Sunday. The building is on property shared with Dauber INC on North 18th road. Anderson said 75% of the building was still standing when the fire was extinguished around 9am. Tonica received assistance from LaSalle, Leonore and Lostant fire departments and IVM employees. Tonica Fire Chief Eugene Schultz says Illinois Valley Minerals will be shutdown for some time. How this affects Dauber, INC is unknown. No injuries were reported.
