Industrial expansion planned for Peru

Posted by wlpo on August 15, 2011

While you’ve been hearing grim forecasts for the economy, a local company has plans to expand.  It would also bring 25 new full-time jobs.  And that has the City of Peru trying for a grant through the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity.

Mayor Scott Harl says they can’t say which company is involved, only that for the city’s part they would need to make improvements to the sanitary sewer too process sludge differently.  The city would be on the hook for $868,351.

The expansion project is said to be a $33,397,314 investment.  Harl thinks they’ll hear back about the grant sometime in September.
